Jennifer Lorton began her painting career as a decorative artist specializing in mural painting. Influenced by decorative technique, she often fuses elements of gilding, ornamental plaster, encaustic wax, and print transfer into her mixed media works, creating an inventive battery of techniques and effects. Ms. Lortons’ diverse contemporary works flow from her desire to express emotion, beauty, and sensuality. Often incorporating technical jargon, measured spaces, and script, to obtain an amalgam of abstraction and an added dimension of meaning. Striving to create art based on a visceral response, within her, in turn inviting the viewer to share in this human experience. Ms. Lortons’ work can be seen in galleries across the country. Her work has been displayed in several museum exhibitions, and one of her works is displayed annually at the Smithsonian Museum. She actively displays her work in commercial establishments, and has an extensive list of private collectors. She has the honor of being the resident artist for PlumpJack Winery, and her work can be viewed in their tasting room year round. Prints and licensing of her artwork are available through Bentley Publishing Group. Her work has been displayed in numerous publications, including Home Magazine, Northern California Home and Garden, and The Decorative Artist. |
